Comparison of the tool situation with successful IT organisations

Together with the TUI InfoTec GmbH, we have developed a cooperative solution for the benchmarking of the IT processes and the associated management tools. This addresses especially IT organisations which have well-structured processes in the IT Service Management, whose ITSM tools, however, make a further development of the service and quality objectives difficult.

In many cases, the situation predominates, that the implemented tools have been strongly individually customised in the past and thus are no longer release-capable with an acceptable effort. Similarly, it can happen, that no budgets are available for a migration or the resources for realising the most costly projects are lacking. In such cases, important innovations, as for instance the introduction of self-services and implementation of service catalogues are not performed or are executed with disproportionate efforts.

The Benchmark solution therefore examines whether the ITSM tools in use in your degree of support of IT services and your development potentials differ from the ones in successful IT organisations. This comparison examines whether possible differences can be traced back to weaknesses in the IT processes or the tools in use. As a result, the companies obtain a differentiated analysis and assessment of their current process maturity and of the deployed tools. Besides the documentation of the results, the benchmark study also contains conclusions and practice-oriented action suggestions for optimising the current process or tool situation.

The ITSM Consulting AG and the TUI InfoTec GmbH complement each other for this solution offer to such extent, as the consulting company possesses the appropriate process competences, while the IT service provider brings along its tool expertise as a complement. The perception exists: In most cases, either only the process or the tool level are considered in the performance analyses. Insofar, this combination depicts a holistic analysis with clearly higher insight gain, particularly for the drawing on the assessment of comparison data of other companies.
